can someone please explain why tf medieval cat art looks like that
this is all just
so unnecessary
probs had no references
do you
do you think medieval europe didn’t have cats? do you think they simply hadn’t been imported yet? had only been discovered and reported back from distant lands? what is the thought process here
nature refuses to stay still
i have seen a cat lie on the sofa for 5 hours without moving. lazyass house cats are a staple of the human experience
Dont painting of babys also look that bad akzvxmsjdgxb
maybe medieval art is just bad
If my history professor was correct (he was also speculating cause he was married to the art teacher and the biology teacher was his best friend (who also set them up)) historically, cats were used as rat catchers and not actually “pets” and were more along the lines of feral, to semi feral, so they would avoid human contact more often than not. Because of this, painters didn’t have very good references of cats faces, especially close up since they would turn high tail and run away from people, or large strange objects, such as an easel. Also, oil paints (which is what many historical painters used) smell HORRID to many cats, and other animals so they wouldn’t stay around very long either way.
This is a big deal for Korea. In most Asian counties, if you’re not like a size 2 you might as well be a fucking hippo and it has a huge effect on women’s self esteem.
